EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Alcohol & Substance Misuse Prevention
Alcohol
Alcohol education covers the impacts of alcohol on the body, standard drink sizes, blood alcohol concentration, healthy decision making, the signs of abuse and addiction, alcohol poisoning and more.
Our Alcohol & Substance Misuse Prevention program area is dedicated to promoting responsible drinking behaviors and reducing alcohol misuse among students. We provide a range of educational workshops, peer-led discussions, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness about the risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption. Our program also offers resources and support services for students seeking help with alcohol-related issues. By fostering a culture of informed decision-making and support, we aim to create a healthier and safer campus community.
Drugs
We address the physical and mental health effects of various substances, including prescription medications, marijuana, and illicit drugs. Our curriculum includes information on addiction, the impact of drug use on academic and personal life, and the legal consequences of drug-related activities. Through workshops, interactive sessions, and peer education, we aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to make safe, responsible choices and seek support when needed.
Interpersonal Violence Prevention
Interpersonal Violence Prevention
Our interpersonal prevention education programs are designed to enhance the campus community’s understanding of and response to dating/domestic/relationship abuse, human trafficking, sexual assault, and stalking. Collaborative programming and in house workshops cover key topics, such as recognizing warning signs, practicing healthy relationships, communicating consent and boundaries, bystander intervention, and trauma-informed care. The goal of every program is to build connections and the confidence of our campus community to identify, prevent, and respond to instances of sexual violence.

Traffic Law
Whatever form of transportation students choose, they come with traffic laws and regulations. Students may run into legal issues related to traffic violations during their time at Texas A&M. Student Life has compiled some helpful information for students who may have been in a traffic accident or have gotten a traffic ticket.
Off-Campus Living
Party Smart
Whether celebrating a major event or just hanging out with friends, it is critical that students keep their own safety and wellbeing, as well as potential impacts on others, in mind. Partying Smart means thinking ahead, taking proactive steps to stay safe, making well-informed choices about your alcohol intake, knowing how to help a friend in need, and communicating with others who may be impacted by your plans. Off Campus Student Services hosts events focused on responsible hosting, as well as informational presentations and Party Smart Pack distributions to educate students on making safe and responsible choices.

Be a Good Neighbor
Students are an integral part of the Bryan/College Station community; many local residents truly enjoy having Aggies in their neighborhoods. To make the most of your experience living in Aggieland, be sure to get to know the people living around you and be a good neighbor from day one! Good neighbor practices include offering a helping hand when needed, informing neighbors in advance of events that may impact them, and knowing and respecting local ordinances around noise, yard maintenance, parking, and trash disposal.

Leasing 101
A lease is a legally binding contract, written to clarify the rights and responsibilities of both the tenant(s) and the landlord. To protect themselves, students are encouraged to read everything in the lease, ask questions before signing if there are sections they don’t understand, get written confirmation of any promised changes or special accommodations, and save copies of all documents, receipts, and other communication related to their rentals. To learn more, check out our Off Campus Manual and our Leasing 101 Workshop.
Training
Student Required Training
All Texas A&M students must complete the Student Required Training modules in Canvas by the 30th class day or risk a registration hold being placed on their account. Student Life oversees the Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Prevention module and can help troubleshoot some issues or process an exemption request.
