The Battalion

The Battalion has been the student newspaper of Texas A&M University since 1893, serving the Aggie community by reporting on issues of interest to Battalion readers and providing a forum for student expression. The Battalion is a weekly student newspaper, online news website and forum for student expression which serves the University community by accurately and fairly reporting the news of the day and developing informed opinions regarding issues of interest to the readership of The Battalion. The Battalion trains students in journalism by setting high standards and providing the resources and guidance to reach those standards through cultivating high-quality storytelling and content.

Aggie Orientation Leaders

The Aggie Orientation Leaders support new students and families during New Student Conferences and Howdy Week. Orientation Leaders welcome all new undergraduate Aggies to Texas A&M, introduce them to campus life and traditions, and provide information about resources and support services crucial for a successful transition. Through this position, Orientation Leaders build relationships, learn about campus resources, and develop transferable leadership skills. This position empowers current students to help shape a new Aggie’s experience and to make a large impact on the campus community.

Parent & Family Advisory Council

The primary mission of the Parent & Family Advisory Council is to provide a communication link between Aggie Families and the university. The Parent & Family Advisory Council provides a forum for university officials and a select, representative group of current Aggie Families to share information from their various perspectives to support student success. The purpose of the Parent & Family Advisory Council is to foster communication between the University and families to improve the quality of the university experience for both Texas A&M students and their families.

Aggie Parent & Family Ambassadors

Aggie Parent and Family Ambassadors consists of student leaders dedicated to selflessly serving the Aggie Family. These ambassadors seek to provide exceptional Aggie Family experiences, including some of Texas A&M’s greatest traditions, like Parents of the Year and Family Weekend. Through their involvement, ambassadors develop leadership skills, build relationships, and cultivate community.

Aggieland Yearbook

The Aggieland is the student yearbook that strives to create a photojournalistic record of the academic year by capturing the traditions, history and spirit of Texas A&M University for all students, past, present and future. The Aggieland trains students in journalism, setting high standards that can be used to demonstrate professional competence and providing the resources and guidance 
needed to demonstrate professionalism and competence.

Graduate & Professional Student Government

GPSG is composed of graduate student representatives throughout the campus to help lead legislative initiatives in our Senate, represent graduate student needs in divisional committees, and to lead social and networking events that offer opportunities for students to develop professionally and to connect with other students and campus partners throughout A&M. GPSG Senate meetings are open to the public and are held on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 5:30-7 p.m. in Koldus 144.

Maroon Life Magazine

Maroon Life is a feature magazine that provides in-depth stories and a visual look into the Texas A&M campus and community outside of traditional news stories. The magazine focuses on the people, places, events and initiatives that affect our student body, faculty and community through persuasion, entertainment and informing our Maroon Life audience. Maroon Life trains students in persuasive storytelling, photojournalism, page layout and design and helps students prepare for careers in journalism, advertising, public relations, communications and related fields.

NSC en Español

A team of dedicated student leaders support during New Student Conferences to translate content for incoming students’ family members who prefer to receive communication in Spanish. This includes live translations of family sessions during the New Student Conference as well as translations of printed and virtual resources that are distributed through the Texas A&M Family Portal.

Parents of the Year

The Parents of the Year (POY) program is a unique family recognition program that has existed at Texas A&M since 1956. The award, given once a year, recognizes the dedication and involvement of Aggie family members. Families selected as Parents of the Year are invited to be recognized during Family Weekend events, Parents of the Year reunion events, and other campus activities.

Internships & Practicums

Student Life offers students the opportunity to work with our Alcohol and Other Drug Education and Interpersonal Violence Prevention programming areas, with planning, implementing, and evaluating programming related to substance misuse and violence prevention. Internships offer a broader experience, while practicums are project-specific. All internships are unpaid.

21st Birthday Card

On August 3rd, 1999, an Aggie was lost on his 21st birthday to alcohol poisoning, from one night of celebratory drinking. During the week of their 21st birthday, every Aggie receives our 21st Birthday Card email, reminding students to celebrate responsibly. When you receive yours, share the message with your peers to promote responsible and safe choices.

Campus Ministry Association

The Campus Ministry Association (CMA) is a voluntary organization of clergy who provide pastoral care for the students at Texas A&M. Campus Ministers are located off campus in their respective places of worship. Many of these are within walking distance of the campus, others provide bus service. Specific information is available by reviewing the website for each Ministry.

Student Life provides numerous presentation options relating to substance misuse and violence prevention, around topics such as alcohol, vaping, consent, healthy relationships, and more. Texas A&M students and colleagues request presentations for classrooms, student organization meetings, department meetings, conferences, and professional development trainings.
