At Texas A&M, every student is entitled to complimentary legal consultations with our dedicated student attorney, Rick Powell. Rick, who holds a license from the Texas Bar Association, offers a wide range of services tailored to student concerns and issues. He is accessible for one-on-one meetings, in-depth consultations, and is also available as a guest speaker for student groups and officially recognized organizations.
As an integral member of the Student Legal Services team, Rick provides guidance on legal matters, ensuring students understand their rights and responsibilities. He also connects them with the necessary legal, community, and university resources, enabling them to navigate their legal situations effectively.

Off Campus Student Services
Off Campus Student Services empowers Aggies by providing education and guidance to help them navigate off-campus living in a manner that supports their wellbeing and academic success. In collaboration with partners both on and off campus, OCSS assists students in addressing challenges and building positive relationships with the university and the Aggieland community.

Student Assistance Services
Student Assistance Services is a part of Student Life that seeks to connect Texas A&M University students with the appropriate guidance, resources, and support to address a variety of personal and academic matters. SAS can be a beginning point of contact for information or questions about a variety of topics.
Reasons for Students to Make an Appointment with a Case Manager:
- They have questions but are unsure which department or office can assist.
- They need help navigating various Texas A&M processes or offices on campus.
- They have medical absences and need to explore options.
Reasons for Parents to Contact Student Assistance Services:
- To communicate with a campus staff member when their student is unable to do so.
- To gain knowledge about various Texas A&M processes that may impact their student.
- To meet with a case manager alongside their student to explore potential resources.
Important Note:
When speaking with a case manager, they may not be able to share detailed information about your student’s educational record. Case managers can provide general information about TAMU processes. If a student wants their family member involved in the case management process, they must initiate their involvement.
