Workshops

Participants of this workshop will help us all STAND Up for those who are impacted by these public health issues. The workshop provides:

  • Information about sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
  • Social perspectives on how we understand and respond to trauma
  • The impacts of trauma on the brain and body
  • Active listening techniques
  • Tools for mandated reporters
  • Campus and community resources

Formats

Overview

60 min. | Virtual or in-person

Provides general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and basic knowledge of trauma-informed response & relevant resources.

Workshop

3 hr 30 min. | Virtual or in-person

Designed to enhance understanding of the physiological and social impacts of trauma, specifically related to power-based personal violence. It aims to improve participants’ self-efficacy and competency in managing initial conversations with individuals who may have experienced trauma.

The workshop provides information about resources, tools for referral to appropriate parties, and skills to assist survivors in finding empowerment. Upon completion, participants receive a placard to display in their workspace, indicating their knowledge of trauma-informed response.

We recommend the full workshop for the following groups:

  1. Department trainings
  2. Student leadership trainings (e.g., Resident Assistants, Peer Leaders, Tutors)
  3. Student organizations with philanthropy related to the prevention of power-based personal violence
  4. Student organizations or groups striving to be better stewards of prevention on campus, and looking to significantly build their confidence, knowledge, and skillset.
