ISS serves as an information resource for all partners in the international education process, those both on campus and off. In addition to issuing documents for students to obtain non-immigrant visas to study at the University, the office works with other University departments concerning admissions and enrollment. International students are provided with counseling and information in the areas of immigration, employment, financial issues, medical insurance, adjustment to the U.S., and income taxes. The Ombudsperson for Graduate Education advocates for the processes of graduate education by being equally open and accessible to all parties including students, faculty, staff and administrators. If you have an issue or a concern that you and others cannot resolve, or that you would prefer not to address through formal channels, the ombudsperson can help you. Texas A&M University's Career Center offers services that address the particular needs of graduate and professional students, such as advanced workshops on independent job searches, job searches for international graduate and professional students, one-on-one career advising and special books and resources for graduate and professional students. The mission of the University Writing Center is to support writing and public speaking for graduate and undergraduate students across the university, with particular emphasis on supporting W and C courses in the undergraduate curriculum. The University Writing Center provides specialized programs and services to achieve this end including:
- Providing students with one-to-one consulting sessions and other resources such as online handouts and workshops on writing and speaking
- Assisting faculty in developing writing and oral communication intensive courses
The University Writing Center's charge from Undergraduate Studies is to “foster excellence in undergraduate academics at Texas A&M University” and to “support academic departments and programs in producing knowledgeable lifelong learners capable of navigating a complex and interconnected world in a socially and ethically responsible manner.”
As a department involved in students’ oral and written communication, the University Writing Center acknowledges and celebrate language diversity and growth. They provide an environment in which students’ learning differences are respected and addressed, and where students are encouraged to explore their diverse voices. They embrace the university’s diversity initiatives and continually assess their progress to maintain accountability to and recognition of our unique Aggie community. The Association of Former Students (AFS) traces its origin to the Ex-Cadets Association formed in 1879 and later to the A&M Alumni Association and Alpha Phi Fraternity. In 1919, a coalition was formed and adopted the name "The Association of Former Students." Since 1879, much has changed in organization and details, but the fundamental objectives of The Association remain the same.
The founding charter of 1925 stated that The Association of Former Students is formed for "the support of benevolent, charitable and educational undertakings by extending financial and other aid to students of Texas A&M University; by promoting social, literary and scientific pursuits; by perpetuating and strengthening the ties of affection and esteem formed in university or college days; by promoting the interests and welfare of Texas A&M University and education generally in the State of Texas."
