LGBTQ+ PRIDE CENTER
What is LGBTQ+ Awareness Week?
LGBTQ+ Awareness Week is an opportunity to educate the Texas A&M campus about LGBTQ+ issues as well as to recognize, honor, and celebrate sexual and affectional diversity and gender variance in our communities. The week is held annually during the first week of April, March 29- April 2, 2021. Awareness Week is designed to highlight the progress that the university has made in recognizing the LGBTQ+ community since the historic Gay Student Services vs Texas A&M University decision allowing for the first LGBTQ+ student organization to be recognized on the Texas A&M campus in 1985.
How does the LGBTQ+ Pride Center Celebrate LGBTQ+ Awareness Week?
Each year, the LGBTQ+ Pride Center hosts the Coming Out Monologues as a part of our Awareness Week celebrations. Additionally, the center publishes a calendar of campus events centered around LGBTQ+ Awareness Week.
