GET INVOLVED!
There are several organizations here at Texas A&M University for you to get involved with! Please note, the organizations listed below may collaborate with the LGBTQ+ Pride Center but are not advised through the office.
Campus Organizations
Aggie Allies are staff, faculty, and students at Texas A&M who have participated in our Safe Space training program called Allies Advance. Allies are individuals who are willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear, and support for LGBTQ+ people or anyone dealing with sexual orientation or gender identity/expression issues. Allies can display a placard in the office, classroom, or on their door showing that they are a friend to the LGBTQ+ community. They can also participate in continuing education opportunities (presentations, watch movies, go to events on campus, etc) and receive a ribbon to add to their placard.

Interested in becoming an Aggie Ally?
Individuals that identify as LGBTQ+ have historically, experienced systemic and personal marginalization. In addition to a lack of representation, individuals may perceive a campus climate as unsafe, exclusive, or openly hostile. When such conditions exist, not only is the integrity of a diverse campus community threatened, but the mission and values of a university to develop and grow students is challenged.
Allies include staff, faculty, and students at Texas A&M University who display an Ally placard outside their office or residence hall room upon completion of an Aggie Allies Workshop. This sign identifies them as individuals who are willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear, and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer+ people or anyone dealing with sexual orientation issues.
While Aggie Allies workshops do not prepare participants to counsel LGBTQ+ individuals, it does provide participants with information and resources that will help eliminate myths, misconceptions, and stereotypes often associated with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
For more information on how you can become an Aggie Ally, please visit allies.tamu.edu or email allies@tamu.edu.
The purpose of Freshmen Leading in Acceptance, Kindness, and Equality is to make LGBTQ+ and Ally freshmen feel welcome and included at Texas A&M. We want to provide opportunities to give LGBTQ+ and ally freshmen a definitive place and purpose at Texas A&M. Our mission is to provide freshmen who feel like they don't fit in anywhere with a strong support system and feeling of acceptance and belonging. Though we are focusing on LGBTQ+ and ally freshmen, we want any freshman who feels like they do not have a home to understand that FLAKE waits for them with open arms.

oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is a national society dedicated to educating and fostering leadership for LGBTQ+ communities in STEM fields. The main goals of an oSTEM Chapter at Texas A&M would be to: identify, address, and advocate for the needs of LGBTQ+ students in STEM fields and to educate, assist, and engage LGBTQ+ students in STEM fields. Those goals will be fulfilled by fostering connections between LGBTQ+ students and/or potential employers, faculty and staff at Texas A&M, and other students, by collaborating with other student organizations and departments at Texas A&M, and by developing engaging programming that brings all of these groups together.

Transcend will exist to better fit the needs of the growing population of students that identify in the transgender, bi-gender, agender, and gender nonconforming spectrum(s). It will serve as a support group for these students to connect with allies and others that identify as they do. It will work alongside existing LGBTQ+ organizations and institutions already in place to further the acceptance, recognition, and fair treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and (especially) transgender students on campus. Transcend will also serve as a reminder to prospective or incoming transgender students that there are others like them currently on campus, and despite TAMU's anti-LGBTQ+ reputation they will have a place on our campus. With that, Transcend will work with the university to help nullify its current anti-LGBT reputation.
