Gender Issues Education Center at Texas A&M University:
The mission of the Gender Issues Education Center (GIEC) is to pursue
equity and enhance the campus climate for the gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgender community (GLBT) and their straight supporters at Texas
A&M University through visibility on campus, advocacy, support,
leadership, and programming. The Center advocates by educating campus
and community constituencies on GLBT issues and functions as a resource
and referral center.
Lending Library in the Gender Issues Education Center:
The GIEC maintains a library of over 300 GLBT books, periodicals, and
movies that can be checked out for up to two weeks by students, faculty,
and staff. We also provide educational literature in the form of
brochures and fact sheets that cover a range of GLBT topics. The
Center’s “Safe Space” room is set up for individuals who do not wish to
check out materials, but would like to learn more about GLBT people. We
have a study table, couch, and a TV and DVD/VCR to view our movie
collection.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Aggies (GLBTA):
The purpose of GLBTA is: to provide support for all gays, lesbians,
bisexuals, and transgender individuals within the University and
surrounding communities; to provide educational information on
historical and current issues regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender individuals; and to create opportunities for welcoming,
safe, and supportive social gatherings that strive to minimize the fear

Aggie Allies: ALLIES include staff, faculty, and
students at Texas A&M University who display an Ally placard outside
their office or residence hall room. This sign identifies them as
individuals who are willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear,
and support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people or anyone
dealing with sexual orientation issues. For more information please

GLBT Professional Network: The GLBT Professional
Network is an officially-recognized organization for gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender Texas A&M University faculty, staff, and
graduate students, and professionals within the Bryan/College Station

Bryan/College Station Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians
and Gays (PFLAG): Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians
and Gays (PFLAG) promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender people, their families and friends through:
support, to cope with an adverse society, education, to enlighten an
ill-informed public, and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure
equal civil rights.
Brazos Valley QueSt: BV QueSt is a non-profit 501
(c)(3) fundraising organization. The mission and purpose of Brazos
Valley QueSt is to celebrate the queer and queer-supportive community of
the Brazos Valley by providing events designed to raise funds for local
queer and queer-supportive organizations. We are “On a QueSt to Unite
