Comprehensive Program Review
1997-1998

Evaluation and Assessment

Evaluation and assessment activities by department offices have been highlighted in their sections of the comprehensive program review report. While some areas of the department maintain useful data on their services and programs and seek evaluative information from their customers, the department, as a whole, needs to make a concerted effort to improve in this area.

Our weakest area is in assessment. At times we have data, but have not analyzed the data and used them to improve programs and services. Our plan is to use data collection and analysis to drive strategic planning and budget requests.

The department plans to embark on at least one major assessment project each year. The next major assessment project will be a study of the campus climate for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students.

The following chart summarizes current evaluation and assessment activities for the Offices of the Dean of Student Life.
