Presentation Descriptions

 

In an effort to create a cultrue or respect and consent, CLEAR offers a variety of workshops, programs, and presentations that will help students learn how they can be allies in the fight to end power-based personal violence at Texas A&M and the greater global community. CLEAR presentations have been requested for classes, student organization meetings, orientations, residence hall programs, and other events. Below you will find descriptions of all the programs currently offered by CLEAR. When you have selected the program that best fits your needs, fill out our online request form, and someone will be in contact with you within three business days.


In Their Shoes

An immersive program meant to educate participants about the warning signs, dangers, and ways to help someone trapped in an abusive relationship. This "choose your own adventure" style program gives participants the opportunity to "walk in the shoes" of someone with an abusive partner. Pariticpants will walk through one of six narratives that are based on real life instances of dating violence. They will make decisions as the individual in the narrative as they attempt to end the abuse that is being inflicted upon them. The program concludes with a debrief of all six narratives. Included in the conversaton is how various identities such as gender, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, and immigration status can intersect with and impact dating violence. 60 to 90 minutes, as well as an additional 30 minutes of setup time before the start of the program.

Love the Way You Lie

A guided media analysis on the music video for "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna. Both the song lyrics and the corresponding music video depict an abusive relationship in a very visceral way. Participants will discuss the way our society view and sometimes even glorifies violent relationships. Participants will also learn the various ways that abusers seek to take power and control over their victims and how we as bystanders can help and support those trapped in abusive relationships. 60 to 90 minutes.

Consent 101

Provides information on what consent is and what consent is not. There are scenarios and comic strips incorporated into the presneation that contains elements of coercion, incapcitation, entitlement, and other issues what pertain to consent. 45 to 60 minutes.

Sexual Violence

The audience will learn about basic information pertaining to sexual predators, sexual assault, and the continuum of violence. Activities such as truth or myth and media analyses are included. 45 to 60 minutes.

Healthy Relationships

Dialouge about the necessary elements to have a healthy intimate and romantic relationship and what American culture says about relationships. Graphics and media analyses are implemented for interaction with the audience. 45 to 60 minutes.

Dating Violence

A presentation designated to give more information about relationship violence. Information presented also includes domestic violence as it is similar to dating violence. Slides include graphics to further explain the impact of dating/domestic violence. The truth or myth activity is also included in this presentation. 45 to 60 minutes.

Man/Lady Box

A highly interactive program that looks into gender stereotypes associated with men and women. Audience members gain a sense of what terminologies keep us contained in the identity of what it means to be a man or a woman and how that ties into power-based personal violence. 45 to 90 minutes.

Stalking

This presentation covers basic information on stalking and the red flags associated with the issue. There is information on in-person stalking as well as cyber stalking. 45 to 60 minutes.

Sexual Harassment

Incorporates the TAMU definition of the term and scenarios where sexual harassment could potentially be present. There is a portion of the presentation of how to address sexual harassment and the steps to take for TAMU affiliates to report it. 45 to 60 minutes.

CLEAR Overview

The CLEAR Overview has introductory information about all of our CLEAR preentation topics. This presentation gives brief information about each topic, but there are important elements that are covered such as the TAMU definitions of sexual harassment, stalking, consent, sexual misconduct, and dating/domestic violence. 30 minutes.
