Event Name: Corps of Cadets SAAM Ribbons

In support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets will be wearing teal ribbons as part of their uniforms throughout the month of April.

 

Event Name: Sexual Assault Awareness Week

Date: April 2rd – April 6th, 2018

Time: 10 AM – 4 PM

Location: Rudder Plaza

Sexual Assault Awareness week is a week dedicated to bringing awareness to sexual assault on campus and helping to unite the student body against it. SLIDE will be passing out small things at a table in Rudder plaza such as stickers and pins for sexual assault awareness and ask people to sign a pledge against it, asking the students of A&M to step in and Stand Up.

 

Event Name: Voices against Sexual Violence

Date: April 3rd, 2018

The Sexual Assault Resource Center is hosting a SAAM kick off event for the Bryan/College Station community. Join us for an evening of awareness and community action to include community awards, SARC's annual Call to Action, local fare refreshments, and a raffle showcasing BCS businesses. Stop by the Aggie Health Hut to raise awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and learn more about the resources available on campus and in our community! Student Health Services is providing education and information for students as we partner with Student Counseling Services and the CLEAR Office for this event. Check out our activities, visit with students, and help prevent sexual assault!

 

Event Name: Consent 101

Date: April 4th, 2018

Time: 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Come learn about sexual consent. What it means, how to give it, how to receive it, and why it is required of all Aggies by our core values. This interactive and entertaining workshop is being hosted by the Office of CLEAR and food will be served.

 

Event Name: S.A.A.W. em Off BBQ

Date: April 5th, 2018

Time: 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Location: Vice President for Student Affairs’ House

Sponsor: SLIDE

This program is a BBQ at the Vice President’s house benefiting Sexual Assault Awareness and non-profits that work with awareness and prevention as well as victim advocacy programs. At this event, SLIDE will be hosting survivors and advocates to engage in an open discussion is encouraged during dinner. The purpose is to create a safe space and a united community of the same Aggie Family who will not tolerate violence and hate on our campus. Tickets can be purchased on marketplace or during the week of March 26-30th in Rudder Plaza at our banner, or from any of the SLIDE sophomores.

 

Event Name: Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training

Date: April 11th, 2018

The Green Dot Strategy is an approach to violence prevention that focuses on active bystander intervention. Through training, participants will learn how to use the 3 D’s (direct, delegate, and distract) to intervene in any acts of power-based personal violence that they may witness. Event Name: Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP) Class

Date: April 11th, 2018

Time: 5:30 – 9:30 PM

Location: UPD 126C

Sponsor: UPD and the Office of CLEAR

SHARP is a specially designed self-defense class for women only, teaching easy to learn techniques for a variety of situations. Female faculty, staff, and students are welcome as well as moms since it is Family Weekend. Preregistration is required and can be done at http://studentlife.tamu.edu/clear.sharp. Event Name: The Clothesline Project

The Collegiate Panhellenic Council will be hosting The Clothesline Project, a nationwide sexual assault and domestic violence awareness program. A clothesline with t-shirts hanging that describe stories of people that were sexually assaulted or victims of domestic violence will be displayed. Event Name: Texas A&M University Softball “Teal Out” Game

Date: April 14th, 2018

Time: Game starts at 2:00 PM

Location: Aggie Softball Complex

Sponsor: Aggie Softball & Student Athlete Advisory Committee

Join our survivors and advocates as we partner with Texas A&M University Athletics in the second annual “Teal Out” softball game as the Aggies take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Survivors will be throwing out the first pitch of the game while student-athletes and advocates collect donations for SARC of BCS. There will be teal promotional items available as well as educational materials from the Office of CLEAR. Be sure to wear your teal!

 

Event Name: Texas A&M University Baseball “Teal Out” Game

Date: April 17th, 2017

Time: Game Starts at 6:30 PM

Location: Olsen Field

Sponsor: Aggie Baseball & Student Athlete Advisory Committee

Join our survivors and advocates as we partner with Texas A&M University Athletics in the second annual “Teal Out” baseball game as the Aggies take on the Texas State Bobcats. Survivors will be throwing out the first pitch of the game while student-athletes and advocates collect donations for SARC of BCS. There will be teal bubble makers available as well as educational materials from the Office of CLEAR. Be sure to wear your teal!

Stand with the entire Texas A&M community in creating awareness and action in an effort to prevent sexual harassment and sexual violence on our campus and in our community. Event Name: Every Victim, Every Time Conference

Date: April 24th and April 25th, 2018

Time: 8 AM – 4:30 PM

Location: Brazos County Expo Complex, Bryan, TX

This two-day conference provides law enforcement, prosecutors, medical staff, teachers, social service agencies, mental health professionals, and others working with crime victims an opportunity to learn valuable information about victim issues related to the criminal justice system. Wear jeans and support survivors! The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans. Make a social statement with your fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault. Event Name: STAND Up Workshop

Date: April 25th, 2018

The STAND Up workshop is designed to assist individuals in learning positive and helpful ways to have conversations with individuals who have been involved in a traumatic event. The workshop provides information about sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking; social perspectives; the impacts of trauma on the brain; listening techniques; tools for mandated reporters; and campus and community resources. Participants of this workshop will help us all STAND Up for those who are impacted by these issues. Register at studentlife.tamu.edu/standup.
